Specializing in women's health & wellness, Sharon offers group Yoga & Fitness Classes via Zoom, as well as Private Personal Fitness Training Sessions In-Person (at her home studio). Sharon is an E-RYT 500 Yoga Instructor and a former yoga studio owner - Total Harmony Yoga. She has worked in the fitness industry for over 40 years.

Payment: Payment is done at time of booking. Please keep in mind that your payment receipt and/or bank statement will say "Mitahara Vegan" (the name of the business providing this service) or "Chef Sharon Ballenger" (your instructor)

As we age, our bodies can become less flexible and mobile, making it harder to perform daily tasks and enjoy physical activities. However, there is a natural solution to improving mobility and flexibility - Yoga. Yoga for mobility offers a low-impact way for you to increase your range of motion, strengthen your muscles, and reduce pain and stiffness. Yoga provides a full body workout that will help give you more freedom in movement, more energy, and will help you feel better overall.

Gentle Slow-Paced & Beginner Friendly
Gentle Beginner flow combines a series of poses at a gentler and lighter pace, so that practitioners are able to move with a sense of ease from one pose to the next, coordinated with breath. This softer flow will allow you to be more present within each pose. This class is designed to create space to explore your practice, find balance between strength, flexibility, stability and ease, and to gain a greater understanding of safe alignment in the basic foundational poses. This class includes special focus on the pelvic floor. The pelvic floor muscle is a wonderful, hard-working part of the body that deserves special attention, especially as we age. Maintenance of a strong pelvic floor is essential to continence (bladder & bowel health) and sexual function.

Functional Fitness training is a type of strength training that readies your body for daily activities. These exercises equip you for the most important types of physical fitness, the kind that preps you for real-life, daily living like bending, twisting, lifting, loading, pushing, pulling, squatting and hauling. Functional Fitness contains multi-joint movement patterns that involve your knees, hips, spine, elbows, wrists and shoulders, which all build strength & stability, and improve your range of motion.
Light hand weights are often used in this class. Please have them nearby when participating. We recommend not using weights that are heavy or that will cause muscle failure, over exertion or strain. The idea is to strengthen our muscles, not to achieve bulk.

What can seem even more intimidating is a 20-30 something personal trainer telling your 50-60 + body, what is best for you! And most of today's gyms and fitness centers focus on lifting as much weight as possible and showing off to everyone else, which can become a bit daunting as our bodies age. Let's rethink your fitness regimen. Sharon (who is over 50 herself) is dedicated to creating a customized fitness plan specifically for those 50 & up, to help your body feel its best by targeting the new ways your body stores and burns fat.
